The chrome trim on the standard plastic door panel is a Ranger package item. They did not have inserts, only the chrome outline trim mounted to the panel. The Ranger XLTs, Lariats, Explorers, Indy 500s etc had various styles of inserts. Here are the panels in my '79 F250 Ranger. The section inside the chrome is a lighter shade of green, but it is just a paint or a dye over the plastic, no insert.
