Rear Door Lock
My passenger side rear door lock stopped working in my 2002 F-250 CC. It works manually, but not with the fob or the switch. How hard is it to replace the actuator or could it be something else?

If the others are working, and that one is not, it more then likely is the actuator. You can pop off the door panel and look. There are parts that can come loose. I changed one of my door actuators myself. It's not too hard. It took me about an hour. I had never changed one before that. I don't know how much machanical ability you have, so I can't say whether or not you would be able to do it. Take the door panel off first, so you can get a better look of what is going on. If you want to fix it for free, you can take the actuator out. Do a search and you will find out how to wrap foil around a small metal plate in the electric motor and the door lock will then work perfectly. I did mine and is real easy to do. The plate looses it ability to transfer the DC power to the motor. It's there to protect the motor if someone holds the power lock switch down. It warms up and stops the transfer of power. Once wrapped in foil, you won't have that protection. Very common problem.
