Was gonna offer the 6.2. But your are a long way from Texas & I'm a pu$$y when it comes to you alls cold & snow. Your gonna have to find a closer rig. Sorry.
I'm in Pittsburgh if you wanna head down. We can head to any rv dealer nearby and both experience what a large 5er is gonna do to the truck.
I think the 4.30 gears and 6 spd trans is going to make it a pulling machine. We can talk hp/tq 'til our tongues turn blue but in the end, the diesel has DOUBLE the torque of the 6.2. No wonder those guys are eating through tires! Those are awesome numbers for an engine, and that makes it an ideal towing truck. I'll only be towing it 5-10 times a year so I didn't need the added expense of a diesel. I sure as heck ain't winnin' any races but who cares. For me, the 6.2 and my trucks config is rated to 15k with a 5th wheel so we'll see.

Thanks...if I can get down that way soon I'll give you a PM. It's such a big investment and we're planning on keeping this one for many years....just don't want to regret going one way or the other if I can help it.

Definitely do! I'm gonna take a trip to the dealer (they're over an hour away) to hook up a few trailers and see how the truck does with each (one is ~35', the other is ~40'). Ooh, this test drive can turn into a video op! With 4 kids and a live-in mother in law, I need all the room this truck can pull. If it can handle the 40', I'm gettin' it!!
I kept the SD in my sig for almost 10 years (bought it new), loved that thing to death. I'm hoping the new rig gives me the same comfort as I plan on keepin' this one for a long time as well.
Wow, I have totally derailed this topic, sorry to the OP!!
Well, looks like our company is heading for a new 6.2 and this thread is helping, thanks.
We have an '08 6.4 that is simply not repairable. We won't pay for it, Ford might cover it if they could figure out what's wrong with it. They are willing to let us pay for throwing parts at it but are unable to get a specific diagnosis to fill out warranty paperwork. Nice..
The 6.4 I had was flawless, I got the 6.7 for the economy gain.
The 2nd 6.4 is not holding up.
The 6.7 I have now is fantastic, I won't give it up.
For our 2nd truck we are going the 6.2 route to save some initial cost and to see how the cost per mile and durability go.
Our trucks average 50K miles/year, 80% of those miles will be towing 10K or less trailer. Obviously, my diesel laughs at the miles and load, and it seems that you all are happy with the 6.2 as well. Might be a week or two but I'll let y'all know how it goes..

That should prove interesting. I'm anxious to see how the 6.2 measures up as well as the mileage information. Since you're company is going to be putting that kind of mileage on the truck, it shouldn't take long to be able to get some real world, long-term results to show us. Post up as you can and thanks.

Will do. Got the 6.2 F250 4X4 3.73 CC short bed Lariat yesterday. 10K GVW package, 18" wheels, Michelin A/T2 tires.
Everything seems to be identical to my diesel except the engine.
Shipping weight for the truck was 6600 pounds. My diesel shipping weight was 7800 if I remember correctly.
