absolutly no diff in the motor/tranny/body. the hitches on early '00s isnt rated as high as the '01-ups otherwise its all the same.(unless i stand corrected?)
i've owned a 2004 xlt, a 2000 limited after that which was toatled and i now have a 2002 limited. all V10 4x4's.
the only differances would be, headlights/corner lights, better cup holders and newer gauges. all of which came along in 2002.
goodluck with your search, i loved my '00 and was sad to see it go. but this '02 is very nice and i'll get used to it soon enough.
side note: in late 2002 or early 2003 ford added extra threads to the heads to stop spark plugs from blowing out. this may be a reason to go with a '03-up if possible. allthough i have had no issues of the like with my early V10s allthough my 5.4 expedition has blown a plug.
far as i can tell the dash one is the same? somebody correct me if i'm wrong.
but the front/rear center console ones in the '00-'01s are TERRIBLE! cant hold anything in them!
i know if i put a reg 12oz can of soda in mine i have to hold it if im taking a 90 deg turn at 10mph or more! ford should be embarassed. holds my cellphone good tho.
my '00 held 12oz cans well..even 20oz bottles...but the console was useless. i have to say the 02-up cup holders will hold anything and hold it perfectly! even with my nascar style driving.

can you take pics of yours so i can see how they are different, i need to change my dash one and centerconsole one out.
yeah maybe tomorrow at lunch since i dont have the truck at home. they are just much deeper then the older style. hold all drinks much better, never have to worry about spilling.
My '02 has a groove at about the 8 o'clock position so the handle of a travel mug could slide into. This prevents the handle from hanging up on the lip of the holder and not allowing the mug from sitting all the way down flat against the bottom.

thats what my 00 has too, wonder if the new ones have that?
