Questions: Carb, Oil Filter, Flywheel
I've finished re-locating the gas tank on my 1960 F100 (223 I6 with the stock Holley carb), and I've run into a couple of other issues that I could use some of your thinking on.
1) During the tank project, I took the time to rebuild the carb with a kit from LMC. I blew out all the passages and cleaned everything. It seemed to go together just right, but now I have an acceleration issue. Unless I gas it very very slowly, the engine bogs and tries to die. Seems like maybe my accelerator pump isn't working, but I'm wondering if you guys have other ideas.
2) The oil filter was torqued on by an ape, and I haven't been able to budge it with my filter wrench (rubber strap and handle gizmo). I've never had this happen before. Any tips?
3) The flywheel is spinning in the breeze under the bell housing, which seems strange. Am I missing a cover?
Thanks guys.

1) I was working over a confined area while doing the rebuild and didn't find any extra ball bearings rolling around, so I don't think so. The trouble is I have no idea where they would be. There's one ball in in the diaphram/spring/shaft assembly, and I'm pretty sure I got that put together right.
2) It's a modern canister type filter... now all dented by my efforts to get it off.
3) How on earth did a PO lose something like that!? And where do I find one? Jeez.
Thanks.

check your vacuum advance is working..and you should be able to hear the accelerator spray in the carb when the motor is not running..with the filter I use a strap wrench that uses a 1/2 inch ratchet to give you leverage ..I have had to use a braker bar to unwind a filter befor and torn off the can leaving the base behind..used a chisel to finally get it loose..

Excellent Holley manual with cutaway views here; it's for an IH but very similar:

Does this look like the flywheel cover you are looking for? 1957 1960 NOS Ford truck transmission clutch cover - eBay (item 380309879980 end time Jan-25-11 14:07:12 PST)
The Parts and Accessories catalog I have that covers 57 to 63 lists a C0TT 7564-A for the 223 six and 292 V8. Maybe Bill knows if it superceeded the B7C 7564-A that is on Ebay (ending today). These show up once in a while, and I stumbled across this one this morning.

The cover the OP's truck calls for is TAAA-7564-A (post #7) which was, according to the O-S-I (Obsolete-Supercede-Interchange) Catalog, obsoleted by Ford, not replaced by any other number.
I have no parts or O-S-I catalog listing for B7C-7564-A (odd that's there's none in the O-S-I catalog). If in fact it was replaced, it might be COTT-7564-A: 1957/64 F100/700 223/292 & 1961/64 262.
How many bolt holes in B7C-7564-A? I see four, TAAA-7564-A has six.
btw: I wonder if the ebay seller typed the wrong part number...there is a B7Q-7564-A = 1957/63 302/332 Lincoln based Y blocks.

I don't know if you want "NOS" or just something to cover the flywheel....so my idea ..if it were me and wanted a cover....make on..hit the wreckers ..find something close and modifi to fit..it is just a cover..with a couple of hours of hammerwork...My Kid has learned some metal work buildiing motorcycle parts..a gas tank...a cover should be easier...but then that's me
