On my 98 Expedition, I am wondering if there is any pros or cons to having the over drive off during my city driving ( which i do most of) . Sure its great when on the interstates and roads where you are above 45 mph but being i do mostly city driving, am i gaining or hurting anything with just leaving it alone in the on position.
Biggest difference you'll notice below 44 MPH is that when you let off the gas it will "free wheel" and the RPMs will decrease, where as with the OD off the one-way clutch will hold the truck back (i,e, help the vehicle decelerate).

Your fuel economy may be affected as well. Almost always fewer mpg without the OD, depending on your driving style and trip factors.
In light to light city driving, turing the OD off will have no effect. If you don't drive fast enough for the tranny to shift into OD, disabling it does nothing.
The OD off feature is for when you are towing a good load. It keeps the tranny from "hunting" in and out of OD.
