WHEN IT IS VERY COLD LIKE 10 TO 20 BELOW STARTER WILL ONLY CLICK BUT WILL NOT TURN OVER AFTER TRYING IT ABOUT 5-10 TIME IT WILL GO. WONDER IF ANYONE ELSE HAS THIS PROBLEM I DRIVE A F350 04. MY BROTHER INLAW HAS A EXCURSION DOES THE SAME THING
I was in -35 this weekend and am often in -15 and have never had any issues. I will be watching to see for future reference. Hope someone will chime in! Good Luck!
If you know someone with a DC clamp meter you can check the current draw. If its major, then the problem is in the starter. If its minor, the problem is in the solenoid.
If you don't, you could direct wire to the starter. If it starts the problem is the solenoid.
All of this assumes the battery is good. Since batteries put out less energy the colder they are, your battery may be in the early stages of failure too.
