Electrical nightmare

I'm hoping you guys can help out on this one. My brother in law has a 85 F150 which keeps popping the fuse for the rear tail lights. All the lights come on when he turns the right turn signal on. The left turn signal also doesn't want to work at times. Any ideal where the problem may lie. No wires can be found pinched or burnt.
Thanks for the help.

Electrical nightmare

Most likely inside the steering column or at the back bumper - does he have a trailer connector?

Hey Steve83, Thanks for your reply. It does have wiring
for a hitch and everything is good there. Will keep searching
for the pain.

Electrical nightmare

I am looking at the diagrams, and can only find a fuse F-13 for the brake lamp circuit. The taillamp/marker light circuit seems to be fed from a fusible link. So I am assuming there is something wrong with your brake light circuit. It could very well be your turnsignal switch like the other poster said, since the brake light circuit runs through the turnsignal switch. But you may want to check the wiring for your trailer brake controller(if you have one), and see if any of the add on wiring under the dash could be rubbing. Try to find out where they picked up the brake "on" signal for the controller.

Hey everybody, thanks for all your help. We found a short
at the taillight, some rewiring and back on the road again.
