I was wandering what the owners of a scan gauge's has their injector cut off set at? Mine is on the standard 24 I belive . It just doesn't seem the mpg is correct. Thanks ahead!!
I just got my Scangauge II yesterday. To achieve accurate MPG readings, it is important that you set things up correctly and follow the fill up procedures exactly.
Page 17 of the SC II clearly states the cutoff setting IS NOT CRITICAL.
I spoke with Ron (owner/inventor) of Linear-Logic today and this is what he told me:
Fuel usage is determined by injector pulse width and is not very accurate without calibration.
To calibrate correctly, make sure you set up your Scanguage II withe the correct engine size (6.0), and fuel type (diesel a).
Tank size is only critical in determining miles to empty (range). I mention this because in my conversation with Ron, I asked about diesel foaming anf filling the tank. My single cab has a 39 gallon tank and after the auto-pump shuts off, I can top it off with an extra four gallons.
What's important in obtaining accurate MPG and GPH is filling up the tank the same way every time and using the calibration instructions starting on the bottom of page 18 of your SC II manual.
If you fill your tank to the top of the filler neck every time and correctly execute the calibration procedures, you'll get pretty accurate mileage readings from your Scangauge II.
