Manual Locking hub indicator

How do I tell if my front hubs are in lock or free. I have a 2001 F 250 SD Diesel 4x4. The only indicator I see is a dot on the hub. when the locker is in line with the dot is that lock or free?

dot to dot is unlocked. I painted mine with white paint so I could see the dots better.

I was under the impression left is free, right is locked.
