Step plates ?

getting ready to install my step plates today. Where do most people mount, Dead center of door or sit inside and figure out where your feet land on the way out?

I put them on both trucks and used the "where your foot lands" method.

That's exactly where I plan on mounting mine! Has anybody mounted them with only 3M double sided emblem tape? I sure don't want to drill my new running boards.

I would be affraid they may move and cause scrachting with tape. I sprayed three coats of that rubber coating on the bottom of mine and will put plumbers putty under screw heads to seal water out.
