Before I bought the truck there was a ranch hand bumper on it and the dealer took it off and put a factory on. I am assuming the original owner leveled the truck with the ranch hand on there. Now my back end is riding low. I am wondering which air bags are the best or if that is the best option.
I would first determine how the front was leveled, if it was. All spring or a shackle kit, fine. If the PO used blocks then remove the blocks. They're not really safe.
F350 blocks will raise the rear almost 2 inches. The 350 blocks are 10cm, while the 250 blocks are 5cm.
total newb with the "ranch hand" bumper, but if its the front were talking about, then for him to level the back, there cant be blocks. If anything, he added the extended/taller rear shackles, so i'd find a set of "stock" ones.
I would like a lift, but I work out of it everyday putting sheetrock and plywood etc. in the bed and also pull a gooseneck from time to time. A lift would just make it that much harder to work out of. I think I will try the f350 blocks. I think BigPoppaPump told me that one time, but I had remembered that they were only 1/2" higher if they are 5 cm taller that would definetly help. I am not totally sure what meathod they used to "level" the front, but one guy told me it was a procomp leveling kit.
If its blocks up front, remove them, as people have already advised you to do. If its shackles or leaves, just put a 350 block in the rear. Air-bags may fix the lower ride height, but will be under constant pressure and will only be a bandaid. I would only add bags to the truck if....
a) you've already added the 350 blocks and it still sags
b) it lacks overload springs.
c) consistently tows over 1500 lbs tongue weight
