I am in the process of replacing every wire in my 74 F250 after a little melting wire issue on the road and I have a strange wire that comes out of my C6 tranny, just below were the spedo cable attaches. Since the back-up light/NSS assembly is on the column, I can't figure out what this wire goes to?
When I started the "disassembly" process in the cab, I did remove a factory ford light that was hanging down behind the dash that said "lock". Never did know what this was for but am wonding if it is some sort of 4x4 engagement light that was coming from that lone wire?
Don`t know. Your post is a bit confusing. If you have a 4x4 then the speedo cable should be attached to the transfer case, I would think, not the C6 trans.
If the wire is on the transfer case then it may be a shift indicator or if a full time transfer case, maybe a diff lock.
