I am new here so cut me some slack :P i searched for this topic and couldn't find exactly what i was looking for. I have a 2000 v10, mostly stock ex. I pull a 36 foot, 10,000 pound travel trailer and am wondering what the best gear ratio would be. I think im running the 4.10 right now and I am getting less than 10mpg average when not towing.. I want to get better.. any advise would be appreaciated.
now that I think of it I am actualy getting closer to 8-9 mpg.. I just filled up the tank and am tracking the milage now to find out exactly.. I'll let you know how it turns out.
V10's came with 3.73s or 4.30s stock. For the little difference in MPG, I would take the pulling power any day. If you want mileage, I'd suggest getting a smaller daily driver; no gears are gonna make the 7500lb suv get good mileage unfortunately.
