Question Tailight ground problem f100 12v -

F100 56 converted to 12v- 302 w/ auto been sitting for a couple of years when I bought it. Cleaned off batter cables and ground to right side chasis. Have good ground to cross member in rear of truck but left tailight is not grounded. The tailights are stock. I do have my front left park light working. Headlights work. [turnsignals another day} Can make it ground and light with jumper to cross member. My first project! Are there other grounds on the chasis to clean or improve? Thanks to anyone who can help.

Why isn't that battery ground cable going to the engine block?
This would help the starter a lot more.

Then you run a ground strap from the block to the chassis.

About the lights ,there should be a wire on the light pigtail to ground.

Thanks for the comment. The ground leave the battery box under the floorboard passenger side. Where it junctions on the right side main chasis rail with a ground to the engine. Don't know if this is typical or part of the prior owner's set up when put the 302 in. I have cleaned and buffed these for good contact. Would it be bette to go direct with a long ground to block and then back to chasis?
I will check the light assembly closer. Thanks again.

It is best to have the battery cable go to the block first.
Then the ground strap from the block to chassis.
This way you get full benefit of the power of the battery.

What gauge wire is presently the one from the chassis to the block ?

For those who review this and have an older Ford 50's. The tailight ground is provided by the frame. The wiring for a 56 F100 is two wires supplying power for stoplight and turn signals. So if you have any rust you need to clean all your contacts with the frame.
