1969 f100 mud truck 4x4
Some of you may remember me from over the summer, some may not but oh well. I almost had my great grandpa's old 70 F100 to restore but a greedy uncle kept me from gettin it and I finally found a way I could possibly pay tribute to him.
I never knew him he was long gone before I was born but with everything I've heard he was a true american farmer, worked everyday of his life, sweated for every dollar. Exactly what this country is lacking now days.
His truck was a 2wd but I don't really want another one and I want to be able to go wheelin with friends. So I figure 4x4 and his hard working tribute go hand and hand.
I want a good start point and this is the only decent lead I've found and its 2 1/2 hours away.
It has some floor rust and it needs the whole dash re-wired so is what he's asking fair?
Aparently he said its getting 10-13mpg with a 390 so the axles must be regeard for those tires.
Just curuious to hear your opinions/sugestions. I know my biggest obstical to overcome is gonna be finding a bed to put on it.
Also my buddys dad has a 360 he might be getting rid of so I'm not to worried about that being the original motor.
Thanks FTE!
To me that truck looks worth the 1000 asking price rewiring the dash shouldn't be to hard to do as long as the truck isn't rusted out everywhere id say go for it I'm kinda liking the bed check it all over for any holes in floor bad cab mounts inner fenders radiator support cab corners as long as they are good or may need minor patching I would jump on that deal if it was around my area
If that "390" is the original engine, it's probably a 360. 4X4's didn't come with 390's in these years. The ad says it's the "original" 390. Good luck.
The ad also reads "has been converted to 4x4"
It was originally a 2wd. So unless 390's didn't come in the 2wd trucks it is the original motor.
Honestly I don't think this guy knows exactly what he has. Cause A. The price is pretty low and B. The motor looks like it has a 4 barrel but I can't tell..

Sorry, I didn't see that it had been converted. Could be original. I would be interested to know what the VIN on the pass side frame rail says.
Well, the guy bought it converted, the axels came out a 79 and they have got to be regeared for those tires if he really gets 10-13mpg with it..
Oh I meant to report back that I have found a '68 with the 300 and 4 speed with granny low for 800 and its only about an hour away
What about this: http://lakecity.craigslist.org/cto/2155891942.html?
Well that would be appropriate if it wasn't rightly his....but it was left to him when great grandpa died. Believe me, I would be out there any day, any time to drag it outta the woods if I could get it...
Honestly the condition its in, the only REAL way I want it is if he gives it to me. I might would give him 5 bucks for it.
