1951 Ford F2 Questions

Hey guys,

I've been a member here for a few months...but I haven't posted much. I bought a 51 Ford F2 in September when I got out of the Army, it was pretty rusty, but had hope..So I got her.

Does anybody know of a good source of engine parts for the 226? I need rod bearings, but the only place I can find them is Kanter..and I'm hearing mixed reviews about doing business with them. I found mains, and a complete gasket set after a lot of looking, lol...seems not many people run I6's these days.

Also...Anybody know of a source for running boards and a tailgate for an F2? Those are the 2 major pieces I am missing...but I can't even find a used set on ebay

It's a gem in the rough lol! We all have to start somewhere. You will find that F-2 parts are harder to find than F-1 parts. Keep checking Ebay for the running boards and a tailgate. As far as I know they are not available in reproduction. You might find someone converting their F-2 or F-3 to an F-1 as a source for parts too...

Have you tried your local NAPA auto parts store? They might have the engine parts that you need. The only issue with Kanters, in my opinion, is that they're too expensive. A friend of mine bought a front suspension rebuild kit for his 63 Cadillac several years ago. Besides the price, there were no complaints.

As for the running boards and tailgate, you'll need to keep searching. None of the F2-F3 bed parts and running boards are reproduced. You may need to buy an F2-F3 parts trucks for the items that you need. All 48-52 F2-F3 had the same beds and running boards.

Rust Rust and More Rust!

This 51 F3 is a donor vehicle to get my 52 F6 back on the road, the tailgate has already found a new home, but pretty much all of the other body panels can find a new home.

Unfortunatly they really probably aren't much better (if any better)than what you have, these pictures plus the rust colored primer on this one make it look much better than it really is....
The running boards seem fairly straight but as you can see the rust through where the support brackets underneath are located.

I have been working on getting a F2 F3 box and tailgate that are in really nice shape (at least as far as I can tell from the street) it's a truck made into a trailer just a few miles from my house, it has not been used in a long time but I guess they are not ready to sell it yet.... oh well,

BTW Welcome to FTE!
Cheers

Josh

Josh,

Make your parts truck into a trailer and trade them for theirs.

Just out of curiosity, where are you located. I might know somebody with a few F2 parts.
