radio/headlight problem?

yes! i finally figured it out, there is a little latch on the bottom of the radio that hooks into the metal brace on the dash. well mine wasnt hooked on to it, so it wasnt getting enough ground thanks everyone for the help!!! no more quiet drives in the dark

Yep, it was finding ground through the illumination lamp circut, because the metal bracket wasn't connected properly.

Glad you found the problem.

me too!! and thank you guys again for all your advice. i do have another question, if i want put in an aftermarket radio at some point what should i use for the memory? i think that green/yellow wire goes to the lighter should i tap into that or run a new wire?

Run a new wire. There should be a spare wire for your clock memory that you can use, if your truck does not have the clock option. The empty plugs are at the bottom of the dash lower support metal, just behind the heater controls.

Anything that has power all the time, I think the cig lighter does and that would be pretty easy to get to.
