I posted a problem a few weeks ago about a Ford emblem flaking and fading. I also talked about a rust problem starting to show up on the inner lip of the tailgate. I went to Ford about these items and they basically turned their back on me. I have been a loyal Ford customer for many years as have been most of my family and friends. I have read many of your posts on this website and it is my opinion that the "Quality is job one" boasting that Ford advertises is simply all smoke and mirrors. I hate to say that because I've been a Ford lover for many years.
I believe I will start looking at other manufacturers and pay close attention to their quality boasts as well as warranties.
I believe, if I recall, the corrosion warranty(which is 5 yrs unlimited miles) is only applicable for covering a penetration of the body panel due to corrosion. (A rust hole). You may be able to convince a different dealer to swap the emblem, but you are SOL on the tail gate. My parents(and many others I know) have had bad experiences with paint flaking off in huge chunks, and the dealer said since it isn't rusted through they won't warranty it. This applies to other manufacturers as well, all of them have their issues. I wouldn't stray just because of this, believe me, it's not worth it.
A family member got his entire F350 repainted under the 5 year corrosion warranty a few years ago. There was no rust holes, just large areas where the paint was bubbeling. I would suggest calling ford direct.
I understand when something you think should be covered and maybe it is and maybe it isnt. You get really pist off at the dealer and think whats the point. I guess if you are past the corrsion time on the warrenty they wont cover it, same with the emblem. But if those are the only things that are wrong I would not change from FORD to another. Still sounds like you have been a proud FORD owner and they have been pretty relible for you over the long time that you and your family have had all the FORD's that you have had.
I don't mean to sound condescending or inconsiderate as I can understand wanting the appearance of the truck to match the manufacturers claimed quality of the truck, but are you considering switching to another brand truck because of the emblem bubbling and some rust on the tailgate?
I noticed a bit of that on one of our company 06 350s grill emblems, the truck still has 130k miles on it and has never been in the shop, carries and tows all we could ask, I just dont see that as a reason to go to another brand when it seems like the rest of the truck has been treating you right
There isn't a truck brand that I haven't seen that happen on one truck or another. It sucks you they couldn't do anything to satisfy you. Hope your next truck works out better.
Some might remember in the late 80s Ford had a paint problem. I had my '88' F250 repainted(Grey color) Paint flaking off the hood, tail gate and on the cab Took a couple trips to the dealer and finally Ford repainted the entire truck and supplied a loaner vehicle. Claimed 7 days to do and took a month. DCNKY stay after them.

Me to - 1990 Brown 460 truck got a complete repaint in 1993 - they provided a car for 7 days & seems that it took about 10days...
But I had a great dealer/service manager at the time.. Ford did a great job that time..
im so so with fords paint problem right now. i've owned a 1977 f150, 1978 f150, 1979 bronco, and 85 f-250 mud trucks and all paint was almost perfect before i got them into the mud. my dads 2000 and my 04 both have the rotted tailgates and the supports for the cabs r flaking from salt and stuff getting between them
I think a huge factor in the rust issue is the area you live in. I feel I am pretty **** about cleaning my rig, but even with the care given to my then new 93 Bronco, it developed the infamous rust on the bottom of the tailgate after only 15 months!
