Leaking power steering
2000 ranger, have a power steering leak where the steering shaft meets the rack. I assume there's a rubber seal out. Question has anybody used a "stop leak" that worked to seal steering seals. Rangers uses mercon atf for there steering fluid. If stop leak wont work . . . can I buy just the seals ? thanks don

Ford has two power steering systems. One with a reservoir and dipstick and threaded connections at rack. The newer design that has a clear container with sight marks on side at reservoir and connections at rack (without threaded connections) but with O rings and a retainer to secure hoses in place. I have the newer style and also had a leak. It appeared to be coming from high pressure hose where it connects to rack . It turned out the hose itself wasn't leaking but the O ring on the hose was the culprit along with corrosion inside the housing where the line is connected. If you have the newer style check with dealer for an O ring.
