I have a 92 xlt
the needle that tells what gear the truck is in,seems to be stripped...meaning when I put the car in any gear..the orange needle doesn't move.
It's not a big deal...I can put the car in gear w/out it.
I just want to know how big of a deal it is to fix.
I'm sure I can get the dash apart myself,but what comes after that.????

i have done the same on mine. on mine i small plastic peace had snapped and i had just rigged it up with super glue and a paperclip. over all it could take you an hour at most in most cases. haha it had taken me two hours becuase i kept forgeting to put somthing back

If you pull the dash panel below the column, you'll find a tiny white (usually) hard plastic cable sheath coming from the L side of the instrument cluster under the column to its R side, where it's held in place by a black plastic knurled wheel. The fine cable coming out goes to a boss on the shifter inside the steering column shroud, so that when you shift, the cable pulls the needle across the shift indicator. Either your cable has come off the boss, it broke, or it has come off the needle.
