transfer case ?s

I have a 1975 f-100 short bed it has the transfer case without low range. I was wanting to swap to one with low range. I have one out of a 76 3/4 ton and also a newer aluminum housing one out of a newer model truck. All of them are off 4 speed transmissions. Which one would be the best to use and what modification would be required. I know the older one has a mount to the frame which neither the factory one nor the aluminum one have. Any suggestions would be great!

I believe the factory is a dana 21 and the one out of the 76 is a 205. Not sure what the aluminum one is yet?

The easiest route would be to find a 4 speed with a NP 205 already attached. Not sure if driveline lengths would be the same. Do you already have locking hubs on your truck? If not then youd have to find hubs too. A cheap donor truck may be the way to go..............part out the rest of the donor and recoup some of your money.

the tranny that you have in the truck is a 28 spline, that NP205 uses a 31 spline... so you will need to upgrade the tranny too!!!

I have the t-18 that used the 205. I just wanted to know if the aluminum transfer case was better. With the 205 and T-18 will the driveshafts work that were on the np-435 and dana 21?

the NP205 is about as good as it gets!!! dont bother messing around with that other one if you allredy have the NP205
