I have an '07 F150 with a 5.4 in it that I am looking to make some changes to. I understand that just a few minor changes make notable increases to the fuel economy on these trucks. I have searched and there's just too many bonine results for tuners for these trucks. I'm looking for some recommendations from some people with good personal experiences.
Here's what I'm looking for:
I'm looking for a tuner that can make changes to the speedometer calibration...because I am going to change my wheel and tire size and very possibly the rearend gear ratio. (Presently a 3.55, looking to put a 4.10 in it)
I may also put a different intake system and exhaust on this truck, maybe even headers. I want a tuner that can take advantage of these sorts of modifications.
I want to be be able to improve the transmission's performance and I want to be able to realize an increase in average fuel economy.
Well I am no expert on tuners but I think the one you want is the edge programmer. I was searching around for some information but I think this is one of the few that can monitor the tranny temp. The rest of the tuners on the market should be able to adjust to tires, wheel,s and gears because they are made to adapt to different trucks. Now as far as adjusting to intake and exhaust that shouldn't affect your tuner. The gains you get from doing that sort of stuff to the truck will be very small if even noticeable.
Most F-150 folks are using either SCT or Edge/Gryphon tuners. I have a Gryphon and it will do/work with all you are talking about (as most tuners will). The E/G comes with a dash mount which most people seem to like (I do). Some don't...
