Talking overhead temp display reading extremes!

ok folks its been pretty cold around here lately and ive been watching my overhead temp display in my wifes excursion...

anyhow the coldest ive seen it since shes owned it is -15F, i swear it felt colder, so im thinking its max low reading might only be -15f

what are some of your guys record lows on the excursion temp?

or what are some of the hottest temps youve seen it read?

With the ambient temp sensor removed, it should error at -40F. I believe it works by sending resistance through the wires to the overhead computer. As the resistance changes, the pooter recalculates the temp outside. Could be a cruddy connection adding to the resistance in the circuit.

The sensor is easy to find. It's in the front, behind the grill on the driver side. It looks like a cylinder with a cone protruding from the top.

I'll have to look for that sensor - I've always wondered why the overhead display reads -40. The exterior temperature displayed on the climate control is generally accurate though.

Don't know if there is a difference between a 2000 and a 2004, but while visiting our daughter in North Pole, AK - her display went as low as -55.
