Check Engine Light Question
But my question is regarding my CEL. I took it for a drive to get some fuel and the CEL came on for about a minute or less. It was running great too. I went off and never came back on (yet) and was wondering if this means anything? I got home and checked for codes. I did both KOEO and KOER tests. The codes for KOEO were 111 and in continuous 512. I always have gotten 512 and not sure why. Maybe I need more time of running it to get the memory set? I understand it can come in from disconnecting the battery. and in KOER I just got 111. ALL codes repeated themselves. So was the brief CEL just the computer setting? Everything seems fine excepting for a buzzing type noise from the trans area. But It drives great!
Better than 400$ with no guarantee, eh?
My check engine light is funny too.
Used to come on when the truck was finally running RIGHT!
while I had that intermittent computer problem and before I fixed it.
yeah, some say dosconnect the battery for 5 min, some say an hour some say it resets itself after 10 or 20 min of driving, some say it has to cycle thru a few days of cold start, warm highway miles so I have NO idea what's right.
You apparently had the battery disconnected for quite a while doing the computer fix.
If it was me I'd prob disco the battery overnight just to say I did.
Not sure what your codes mean but the cel light may just stop coming on now that it's fixed and it relearns whatever it's supposed to.
or you have some other minor prob .
How's your mileage?, is prob the best indicator of a good running engine.
I told a friend of mine that my truck was finally running right after ALL that computer fiasco and asked him if I could finally stop worrying about it and he said "you're hopeless" and hung up on me.
so maybe we both got lucky.
