Just bought my first diesel from a Ford dealership in November. Part of the deal included it being covered under the CPO program. I drove it off the lot immediately after closing the deal. The next day I noticed the steering wheel was cocked a little bit when driving straight. Dealership checked it out and determined it needed upper/lower ball joints plus an alignment; which they did free of charge. Today it won't start so was checking CPO warranty regarding getting it jumped under the program (which is apparently covered even at home). Anyway, I noticed that the warranty also includes a full tank of gas upon delivery (I was given 3/4 tank), new wiper blades which mine didn't have (I changed them myself without realizing they should have been new), and fresh oil/filter change which I don't think I got (Dealership got truck when it had 48,000 miles and sold it to me with 51,000 miles; assuming oil probably changed at 48,000 but can't be sure). Anyone else ever had these issues or others with their CPO warranty?
CPO doesnt mean nothing. Basicly its the dealership buying a extended warranty for you and passing it onto you.
I bought a CPO 2006 mustang gt a few years back. The carfax was clean when i bought it but a month later a wreak from almost a year earlier showed up as reported by the dealership. I forgot what it was classified but it was almost totaled. Car was fixed up pretty good on the outside but the cowl always leaked no matter what they did and ford ended up voiding the warranty on the car because of all the small issues it was having due to the wreak.
My opinion is if you want something quality and good, buy new. I searched around alot and found many people around the states at the time complaining.
You can goto a dealership and any car they have thats under a certain milage or newer than a certain year they can put a offical CPO on it without doing anything.
Just for the heck of it I'm going back tomorrow and request the extra quarter of tank of gas plus wiper blades just to see what they will say/do. Also going to ask for signed inspection sheet that was supposed to be provided to see if it has date, etc. and who signed it.
They can makeup the paper. I even went thru ford on the whole issue with mine. They will take a complaint but they cannot do anything for you.
All the things you list and say you should get are all things the dealership pays costs on not the warranty and there suppost to add that into the cost to you too.
