The air cleaner snorkel on my gas 1985 F150 connects to the left (passenger's side) of the front of the radiator core support for fresh air.
I noticed there is an opening on the right (driver's side) that looks exactly like the opening used on the passenger's side for the air cleaner snorkel. This would make a great place for another snorkel to connect to, but the fitting that connects the snorkel to the radiator support will not work on both sides.
Did the diesel engines in these trucks have a snorkel from the air cleaner that hooked to the right (driver's side) of the radiator core support that used this opening?
No, I haven't seen the size of a diesel radiator. Does any other gas engine use the hole on the driver's side? (If I can find out what plumbed into that opening, I can get the plastic piece that connects to it, so I can plumb another snorkel there.)
There has to be a reason why Ford went through the added trouble and expense to cut a hole with a lip on both the passenger's side and the driver's side.
To avoid confusion it is standard to call the drivers side the left. You always go by left right like you're sitting in the car. Not hating, just saying!!
Not all of the diesels use a different core support, the Non A/C early trucks used a standard gas core support, and even the one in AC/heavy duty cooling trucks is really only dropped down further between the frame rails, when it comes to the area where the intake snorkel is, they're the same
