i have a 1980 f-150 with the 4.9l in it. i am wanting to put a header on it but it seems that the header for a 4 wheel drive is diff. than a 2 wheel drive. the price for the 4wd is around $400. the one for the 2wd is about $100-$200. but i have looked at the 2wd truck and nothing looks diff. please if anyone knows what the diff. is help me out. i need more power and my manafold is bad anyways.
thanks chris
I was also considering headers for my 4x4, but I am so glad that I waited. I installed a completely new exhaust system using the stock EFI manifolds with the intention of cutting it back to make room for headers later. That was money saved! The EFI headers are dual (3 cylinders per) up until the CATs, neck this pipe up to 2.25" and it makes a great starting point without disturbing the O2 sensor. I went with 2.25" to DUAL flowmasters and then exiting in front of the rear wheels for a TRUE dual exhaust and I have been grinning ever since If you must truly have headers I had found some at Clifford for the 4x4 I6 for about $250, if memory serves. Man I have got to get some sound clips together to demonstrate why I am pleased with this setup. It kicks ash.
