I'm installing adjustable rockers on my stock 360 motor right now. After static setting to zero lash I tightened them 1/4 turn (.025). Problem is now engine idles VERY ruff. What did I do wrong?
The drip trays help divert some of the oil away from your valve stem seals, so are probably a good thing to have. Seems like Ford wouldn't have used them unless they served a purpose.
Explain the procedure that you used to adjust your valves? How did you determine zero-lash, what did you do to get on the cam base circle, etc. Maybe we can figure out something here.

Hey ADSf100, I was just curious... what kind of adjustables did you get? Did you replace the whole assembly - rockers, shafts, spacers, etc.? I'm still looking around and trying to decide for my 390.
Did you make sure the lifters bled down. they need to relax. you need to crank engine slowly and give time for each lifter to bleed down. this may take alittle time. good luck
p.s. crank it by hand so it does'nt build oil presure
I found the problem. Seems I forgot to reattach the power brake booster vacum hose. Stuck that little sucker on and it runs like new...
I purchased the complete adjustable rocker assy. with the cup type pushrods from Dennis at DSC Motorsport. Great guy to work with and top quality product at a reasonable price. You can check them out at www.dscmotorsport.com or call him at 909-763-9765.
Thank's to everyone for all your advice and sorry for the false alarm. Pop quiz next week...
