Shuddering

In the past day or 2 while drivng around town it feels like my bronco is skipping or something...it seems to happen most often going up hill or accelerating some...it's almost like something in the engine is skipping or maybe the trans or maybe the gears...I am not sure what the problem is or how serious it is. If any of you have had this problem before and can help me out I would greatly appreciate it.

P.S. did the names get erased when the the site got updated? because I used to be "Brncomtb" but then my password quit working so I just made up a new name.

Welcome back. Yes, all passwords were changed. Right after the update, there was something posted on the top of all forums, but its gone now. Id drop Ken Payne or one of the other admins an email and tell em ur story. As for the skipping, mine also does this occasionally. My 96 does it going up hills, or when the pedal is to the floor on the highway (and starting up a grade). I attributed it to either too much gas to spark (which doesnt really make sense seeing as it is fule injected), or a dirty fuel filter. I havent checked my filter yet because it happens infrequently. Just an idea...

Do you have the E4OD transmission? The shuddering feeling is a common symptom of a torque converter problem with them.

Yes, it's a problem with the lock-up torque converters. Many people change the transmission fluid, and this helps for a time. I have also heard that an aftermarket chip will also help.

I do have an E40D it was rebuilt 3-4 years ago and has been perfectly smooth ever since...I was kind of thinking that this might have something to do with the torque converter but i really have no idea how to deal with a problem like that....If I changed the fluid and it was still shuddering what would you recomend then?
