Upgrade options

OK so how about this for starters. First off the truck has approximately 180,000 miles and is stock other then a transmission repair which included a new torque converter and a upgraded planetary gear set I think.

Anyway how about this set up for an exhaust?

Riffraff Diesel: Diamond Eye 4" Turbo Back Exhaust

And is this the intake of choice?

Riffraff Diesel: RDP 6637 Filter Kit

At the same time I will install three gauges, EGT, Pyro and Trans temp. just haven't shopped for the them yet.

Tim

Great choices some of us here don't even run mufflers, RiffRaff has a muffler delete pipe for $37 bucks i believe so that's up to you. Also a good choise on the intake, just be sure to click '94- Early 99 +$14' for the option to get the right intake pipe

Defiantly put the dp in, aside from a clogged cat, the dp is the most restrictive part of the obs systems. The firewall will need some 'massaging' with a porta power or air chisel but well worth the hassle.

For the money you were going to spend on the banks kit, you could have all the mods in my sig. Makes one heck of a tow vehicle compared to stock. You're doing great so far with your choices..

Thanks guys, Any recommendations on gauges? Brand of gauge, Boost 0-35 or 0-60, Looks like EGT 0-1600 should be fine.

With the mods I am planning at this time what kind of numbers would you expect to see? as far as boost and EGT.

With stock injectors and no chip about 15psi would be normal. With a chip around 20 psi.. 35 Psi gauge is good for minor mods where your keeping the stock turbo. Aftermarket injectors and turbo will produce 35psi or more so you would need the 60psi gauge for that.

Unless you get custom tuning, you shouldn't see 1200* EGTs. With tuning you can see those higher temps, especially when towing. With injectors and the stock turbo is when your glad you have the pyro. Lol.

I would go with the ISSPRO EV2 series guages. They are nice and the wiring is pretty easy. Get the lighting harness or whatever they call it also. Autometer also makes nice gauges and both brands are top notch quality. Autometer has tons and tons of styles and ISSPRO only has a few styles so it's up to you there. Just don't get Glowshift or anything. Get good stuff the first time and be done with it.

For gauges, I'd go with Autometer or Isspro. I have the Isspro EV2's and am very happy with them. They are LED backlit and match the factory gauges. 0-35 should work for the Boost gauge unless you plan to go for really big power/injectors in the future.

OK so here is what I have on my list at this point, Diamond Eye 4" Turbo Back Exhaust I went with the one with a muffler, RDP 6637 Filter Kit with elbow, ISSPRO EV2 gauges with lighting kit, Pyro, 0-40 lbs boost and transmission temp.

How about a chip? Is that something I should consider at this time or should I wait until I upgrade the injectors and turbo?

Get a chip. You can always have it reburned for the bigger injectors and turbo. I have a PHP from Jim ( Rosewood Diesel) Good price and I really like the tunes. DP Tuner, Swamps, TW, and there are a few others. Can't really go wrong.

Getting started on the gauge installation today, I was hoping to get started yesterday but woke up to a water leak under the house, so with that and other house hold repairs that took all day.

Exhaust, intake and gauges are here, I ordered a 6 position TW chip from Rosewood Diesel last week. WOOT!!

Next up, Injectors and ..........
