Emission Question

I just got done crawling under the gas hog (89 F350, 7.5L Gas) And discovered when ever they put dual exhaust on they took out the CAT, the air tubimg running from the smog pump and the tubing from the cat have been just tac welded i gues to keep it from flapping around.

My Question: If i have holes or nipples installed so I can hook up these tubes would it run a little better? if so do hook them both to the same exaust pipe or opposite side, or does it even matter?

The tubes from the air pumps were used to add extra air to help the cat converters. It shouldn't effect performance since the cats are now gone.
