My poor old reg cab 2000 F350 was alittle underpowered with the 44" boggers and the 5.4..... I also needed some more cab room, so I picked up a 2000 Ford Excursion 4x4
Its a V10 with 191000 kms...Its a base model with rubber floor and cloth benches, but it also has power locks/windows, CD player, Cruise, A/C, keyless entry..all things my f350 didnt have.
I ended up getting it for $5800 including a fresh paint job and a brand new 9500 lb winch
so the plan is to swap this stuff
on to this
I will be posting pics of the lift/bumper/flare swap as it progresses
I can see running 44's on a dedicated offroad rig - what's the point on a street driven vehicle?
I actually find the boggers pretty good on the street...better than the 42" ptibull rockers i had last year. I only drive about 10000 kms a year so im not too concerned about tire wear

Its in the shop right now getting the drivers side exhaust studs replaced. Also getting tranny serviced. Just getting this stuff done while its easy to work on..hahaha. Hope to have it home friday and get some work done on it this weekend
Excursion conversion..hahah sounds catchy..maybe i should get a mod to rename this thread
Did you have to get a different carrier when you put those gears on? I heard after a certain ratio (4.88?) you can't run the stock diff anymore... Are they open diffs, limited slip, lockers or spool? Stock axles?
I'm thinking of going 4.88 with my weeny tires; the X is soon gonna be a vacation/tow vehicle only, and I think 4.30s is not enough of a change to be worth the hassle... :\

That's pretty cool the 08 tailgate swaps over
The crossover is at 4.10 I think. I ordered the "thick" gearset that will allow my 5.38s to work with the stock 4.10 carriers.
In the front I have an Eaton Elocker and a Detroit locker in the rear...they are both 4.10 and down diffs
