I did a search, and couldn't find the exact answer. I need a new driveshaft for my truck, and wondering if any others swap over. Mine snapped, and the only thing I recovered was the input shaft.
Can I use any others from any other model, tranny, etc. My combo is:
95 single cab, short box, 5.0, 5 speed, 4x4. They don't seem to be very common around here.
I used one from blazer?.......mine snapped and i had most of it to compare. If you was in my area i have a spare but not for short box. Try finding a drive shaft shop around you and just have one made.
Was curious if a Bronco would work. Long beds, are the norm around here. So options are fairly limited. Does anyone have the proper length handy? I think I found it during my searches, but don't remember which one, of the 1000 threads I read.
I don't think a bronco DS will fill. More than likely you will need to find a RC/SB truck that has the same transmission as you have. You can take one off another truck and shorten them.
We did that so we could take a shaft from an f150 and put it on an f250, the shaft needed to be shorted because the sterling axle is bigger than the 8.8 and as a result sticks further forward.
Thanks for the info. The only one I could find semi-local (70 miles away), was sold the other day. So going to hit the local yard and see if I can find one. Otherwise, may just order a new one from Advance. $204, doesn't seem to bad a price.
