Progress on '49
Little more progress on the '49. This truck has a 79-81 camaro front clip. I took 1 1/4" off the coil springs yesterday, but it still doesn't sit low enough in the front. I don't know if it would be okay to cut anymore on the springs or not. With the fiberglass tilt-front and this motor being aluminum, I'm sure that is causing it to sit higher as well. According to numbers from FTE and google, I've dropped 200 lbs. on the engine alone. 390 weighing 625 lbs vs. 425 lbs for the 4.6 DOHC aluminum engine. I've heard mixed reviews on dropped spindles. Some hate them others say they're okay. Any opinions?
Here's the steering clearance. I got some cobra exhaust manifolds, they worked fantastic.
Got my air intake together.
I'm using a power booster/master cylinder from a '89 mustang. I'm using the pedal assembly from the Mark VIII that provided the engine. Here's what I've got mocked up so far.
I need to get a better pic of the booster installed.
I had to extend the steering shaft.
I'm using a tilt steering column from a '91 Blazer.
