I bought a 1992 f150 300 i6 with a 5 speed manual a year ago, thought it had an exhaust leak from the exhaust manifold, took it to a mechanic..he said that the smog pipes or rails were cracked and are leaking..and the noise is coming from the pipes under the intake manifold, He said i should remove them and plug the holes on the manifold and to the heads..said it wasn't worth fixing. Been looking for some information on the subject and come up with hardly any info or pics..looking for some detailed info on how to remove this or a write up. Have also found on this forum a post about what lines to plug from the solenoids to keep the check engine light from coming on, just want to remove this to get ride of the noise, not looking to remove the pump, also do you need to remove the intake manifold to get to them. thanks
GOOD LUCK WITH UR SEARCH. I BEEN ON HERE HALF THE DAY LOOKING FOR THE SAME INFO. THE ONLY THING I FOUND WAS ABOUT 200 POSTS WITH REASONS WHY YOU SHOULNT MESS WITH IT. A FEW FOLKS TRIED TO GIVE THE INFO BUT KEPT GETTING SHOT UP OVER IT. MAYBE I DIDNT LOOK HARD NUFF. LOTS OF GOOD INFO ON HERE, BUT THAT AINT ONE OF THEM.
