BALL JOINTS
I just got an email fom a cousin of mine and his 1990 F150 4x4 needs ball joints . He was quoted 700.00 to replace them . I've done most of all the mechanical stuff on my own rigs and that seems a little high . Is there anything in the replacement process that would result in that price being so high ? Are they pressed in or threaded ? I will be calling him later on and any info as to how they are r/r'ed would be helpful as I've never replaced this type before . No I won't be doing the job as he lives over 900 miles from me .
Depends on what labor is an hour in his area. If's it's all 4 all ball joints, it's a lot of work. They are pressed in and the ball joint press is a Great tool to rent to do the job if he decides to do the work himself. Can save him several hundreds of dollars.
