300 distributor problem

I'm doing a thorough rebuild on my 300 and it took me forever to pull the distributor and except for the fact that there are about 482K on this truck....I cant figure out for the life of me why I had to nearly pound the distributor out from the bottom. I've pulled a few distributors in my day and usually after the hold-down clamp and bolt are off; a little twisting while pulling always did the job. Took me nearly 30 minutes to get this one out. Didn't see a set screw or roll pin anywhere of any sort........just stubborn as hell.

Anyone have an explanation for this? Did I miss something?

Probably hasn't been out for awhile. I have a "78 F-150 with a 351M that hasn't been apart since '78 or '79 when one of the heads cracked. It won't even turn when the clamp is off...

Near 500k is a lot of spinning for a distributor shaft. Need to remember that metals do flex and the shaft could have "welded" itself in there. That shaft has spun millions if not billions of times under varying loads.
