Just out of curiosity, why don't you like your Nittos?

I have them on my truck now, and have about 4-5k miles on my truck and they're as good as the BFGs in every day aspects but noise. They are a bit louder than the BFGs.

I will be testing them out offroad a little bit tomorrow. They do great on grass though, where the old BFGs would slip even on dry grass going up hill a little bit (these still have full tread though).

If the prices were the same, I'd buy the BFGs in a heartbeat, even with the balancing issues I had. I got 40k miles out 'em adn they looked stellar in every condition, except being a bit small with a lift (285/65/18). With the time for an upgrade in tires, the 305/65/18s were about $400 more expensive than the Nittos in a 295/70/18.

I have no problem with my Nittos and like them alot. I had 305/65R18s BFGs on my 2004 F150 and like them alot as well. For all the driving conditions I do both tires performed great and I would recommend either tire to anyone. I have a friend that is a manager at Discount tire so I always get great deals on tires so while the price of the BFG is more it is only about $225 more than the Nitto for the set of four. So for me it comes down to tire size. I love the size and look of the 305/65. I'm currently running 325/60 Nittos and they are just really wide so on slush and snow it gets a little sketchy.

With all that said I shouldn't need tires until mid to late summer so my decision could change. As a matter of fact I've been known to change my mind often !

Ah, I don't blame ya on the BFGs. I like that 305/65/18 size as well, but for me it came down to like $400 more than the Nittos, so that's what I went with. I was actually able to start from a stop wtihout the nannies kicking in, so that was pleasant. They really have a good bit of bite in the soft stuff. Then again, with 401 lb ft of torque, it takes a lot to harness that.

Here's a pic of the 295/70/18s out there.

Oh it's not bad. I tried covering up the Toyota badge with a Ranch Hand. it's worked so far.

Even with the problems we've had, it's been a pretty damn decent truck. The most disheartening is the front diff failure at 56k miles. It'll happen again before my truck is sold... it's the nature of the beast.

It's close to being a fixed price. Half the stores get them from Tire Rack anyway. Been buying BFG's at Merchants Tire for years. I just wait till they run the $40 off on four internet coupon which negates the shipping. I've tried and can't beat their price by more than a dollar or two.

I don't want to be "that guy", but the black wall side out hasn't really grown on me yet. You do have a nice truck though.

I'm not sure why, but i've never been a fan for white letters on tires, or even free advertising either. The first thing i did to the truck was take off the dealer plate on the front and pull the (in my opinion) tacky 4x4 stickers off the sides of the bed. I'm actually considering cutting the STX part off of the F-150 badges and re centering just the F-150 part between the door and fender well.

I'm kind of wishing i would have went another size tall and one size wider, maybe on the next ones. These are still a vast improvement over the stock Wrangler SR-A's.

Thanks to all for the comments

question for awq134

awq134- your truck looks to be the stock suspension height, is that correct? Does those 275-70-18 tires rub when you turn the front wheels all the way?

Thanks

That's about the perfect size on a stock pickup. If only they make 'em a little wider. Something that's about 285 or 295 mm wide would be perfect... especially around 33.5" tall.

IT's the size I would have run on mine had BFG made them almost 3 years ago when I put the 285/65/18s on my truck (good size, but a little too short, especially with a 3" lift).

Thanks
everything is stock except the tires. Have no rubbing issues at all. I took it through some back roads that have some above average terrain and mud, and making a 6 point turn over uneven ground with no issues at all. there is another gentleman on here with the same tires with no issue which is why i got the same size he had. I think i could have went a little taller and wider and still have no issues, but i'll have to wait a long time before these guys wear out according to most people. Hope this helps.
