Assuming the engine is otherwise stock, you could use the Edelbrock Performer 289 or Performer RPM intakes. Either one would be a huge benefit over that stock 2 holer you have now.

hey 52 Merc

I posted this out of excitment a little bit ago before you replyed on my other post.

I have the 600 cfm and will be buying the performer intake not the performer rpm since I don't plan on getting the rpm's aboue 5000 all day every day.

I just didn't want to buy all these parts and have the wrong one's.

Now all i need are gaskets and some wire to attach the positive to the carb from ther fuse box

any idea's or help message me here

Thanks!! i just can't wait to get her running!!! I might install the carb this weekend and just drive it for a tank or two

Edelbrock makes several Performer manifolds. Since you don't want the RPM, get the number 2121 Performer 289. It's non-EGR, and is patterned after the hipo 289 intake, only better.

For gaskets, try to find a store that sells Victor-Reinz brand. Fel-pro's have had bad reviews lately deteriorating and causing water leakage iinto the engine.

For your choke wire, just make sure you find switched power. Preferrably one that is only hot when the engine is running.

Most of the aftermarket intakes are good. Only difference to keep in mind is:
Open plenum intakes are made for race engines over 5000 rpm. (blown)
Dual-plenum intakes are made for the street and good for rpms up to 5000. (naturally aspirated)
