I am wondering, my buddy has a mud pit in his backyard and it is about 20 ft long and about 2 ft deep. I have an 89 f150 with the 300 I6 and the M5OD transmission. When I go through this pit would I be better off in 1st or 2nd gear?
unless you plan to go to bigger tires i wouldn't worry about a gear swap. 3.08's suck for wheeling, but there's no sense to go through all the hassle for what little you would gain. you'd just end up killing any mileage you get on road.
you will get stuck in 20-50 feet, **** happens, not the end of the world.
EDIT: you said the pit is only 20ft long, 4 hi dump the clutch in second and get a running start.
