after putting in my new dizzy and timeing the engine (with the help of my uncle) and a fresh carb overhaul, the spark advance isnt advanceing as early as it should??? watching the timeing light it doesnt seem to change til the motor begins to choke out. in normal driveing you have to flutter the throttle to go from dead idle to accelerating or the engine will die ( i know the accelerator pump is working when you pump the pedal with the engine off you can hear and see fuel spraying into the venturies)

Have you re checked all the vacuum lines ?Are they hooked up the way they were before the rebuild ?If you have the V A hooked to a constant vac , it won't work properly ...
the thing is idk if it was doing this before the other work or not, there was soo much wrong i didnt know where to start. as far as iknow everythign is hooked up correctly and has no leaks
Many replacement vacuum advances these days are adjustable - meaning you must insert an allen wrench into the vacuum port until it engages, and turn it one way or the other to make it more/less sensitive. An "advance" timing light is the proper way to measure advance, you'd just need to track down the specifications. I'm sure if you run a search, you can find what some other people have used.
