I have a '77 F-150 I want to put 16" rims on it but I would like to stay in stock styling is there any year fords I can use and what about the newer rangers?
All of the newer 16" wheels off full size rigs are a metric bolt pattern that will not work, your best bet if go aftermarket and try to get a similar style if you want 16". The rangers use a smaller bolt pattern so they will not work either.
X2 on the aftermarket. There's a great assortment of styles available in our bolt pattern. The only real limit is your budget. What you absolutely must be aware of is the amount of backspacing your truck can accomodate and the size of the center bore (some rims that are 5 on 5.5 have a center bore that is too small).
The following Fords use the 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern, and perhaps you could find a nice set of rims on them in a junkyard:
-'54-'96 F100/ F150
-1/2 ton Ford E100 and E150 vans until 1996
-'66-'96 Broncos
Also, wheels from these might work on Ford 5 on 5.5 hubs. You just have to watch the diameter of the center bore...if they are bigger than your truck's, they will work.
try craigslistcrawler 7 ebay classifieds for some. I am putting a set of 98-00 Ford Excursion on mine an was told I would have to drill & sleeve them for bout $30 a wheel. So if you find a set that needs that done for a good deal you might want to jump on them. Ford changed the bolt pattern for the 99 model year so anything 97 an under would fit fine an anything 98-99 an up would have to be drilled an sleeved. Also try junkyarddog for any parts they search all the yards nationwide.
