I wonder if someone can give me a head's up on what's going on with my 2000 7.3 diesel. It starts up fine as it's plugged in but a couple of miles down the road it starts to miss and dies. If it's rolling fast enough it may restart or I have to crank it but it has restarted and then after about 10 miles or so it runs fine without any problem. Until last night when it died and I couldn't get it started. This has been going on the last 3 days. I thought it may be the fuel jelling so I added different fuel and an additive which hasn't made any difference. Any help would be appreciated.
I would go with the CPS. There was a recall on these for our trucks and the dealer will replace it for no charge to you if it hasnt been changed before. It is a simple fix only 2 bolts with a 10mm wrench and about 10 min. Mine started acting up when it got cold outside. Replaced it and havent has any more trouble out of it

Thanks.
Is it cold and wet where you are? I believe that it 'is' your Cam Positioning Sensor, but for a different reason. The seal on the sensor (I believe) is letting moisture in and causing a hic-up with the electrical. Pull the sensor out and put some vasoline on the rubber seal and reinstall. If you do the 'recall', ask for your old CPS back and put it in the glove box.
