Ok here it is. My dad's friend has a 2000 7.3l that recently had a power steering pump go out on it. They replaced the PS pump which works fine, but now there is another problem. When he puts on the brakes while turning the steering acts up. They just swear that there is some type of link between the braking system and the PS system, but I've got no idea what they are talking about. Is this just a NBS problem or is my 7.3 the same- Thanks
Like what kinda way does it act up? and the only thing i could think of is maybe the vaccum pump, but idk if that affects the ps pump like it does the brakes.
It has to do with the hydroboost system. Make sure they put ATF in the reservoir and not power steering fluid. Have them flush it like this Ford Super Duty Power Steering Flush | Superdutypsd.com. Synthetic ATF works well in there too.
Only the F superduty (F450) had hydraboost brakes before 99.
F250 and F350 still had vacuum assist.
Don't figure it would be any different but the hydraboost unit from a 96 F superduty was a direct bolt on swap on my 86.
Should work just like that on the 92 to 97 body style as well.
And that was probably the biggest/best brake upgrade someone could do.
