Transfer case Help

Well its snowing in chicago so i switched into 4x4 this morning. I drove about 50ft down the road truck stopped moving it felt like it was locked up. I switched to 4x2 truck started moving again. When i got home i climbed under the truck i went to spin the front drive shaft doesnt spin at all. Does anyone know what the problem is? Will i be fine driving in 4x2 for know?

check your transfer case for fluid. I would not be so sure that you would want to drive it even in 4x2 as there are stil some moving parts inside.

Consider that the problem might be the front differential also. The only way I'd know to check that would be to remove the front drive line, and then see if it's the differential yoke that is seized or the transfer case output shaft yoke that is seized.

If it's the transfer case, I wouldn't drive it. If it's the front differential, you should be OK with the drive line removed and the hubs unlocked.

I drove about 20 miles on it already what will happen and would it have happen yet.
