I have an 87 Bronco with the 351 Carburated. The engine will bog down and almost stall when attempting to accelerate. It will only accelerate if I just press on the accellerator exremely lightly. As soon as I get above 1500 RPM it is fine. I can press it to the floor with no probs. I just put on a new Holley truck avenger carb. (I had the hesitation with the previous 3 carbs too) I have adjusted the carb. properly (I'm hoping anyway),replaced all the vacuum hoses, and checked for leaks. . I have checked timing,
and replaced the EGR valve due to a leaking diaphram. All or the emissions controls are disabled. The only thing I can think of is maybe the vacuum advance is not working properly, but I'm not sure it it would cause a hesitation. Any advice/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Yes, it does. I am thinking that the rear float bowl may be dumping too much fuel in. When does the rear fuel bowl add fuel? Only when the secondaries open? or all the time?
