Several years ago I bought this because it was in such nice shape. As I recall, when I bought it I was told it was a rear bumper for a '48-'52 F-1. I don't have one to try it on and am asking if that's right.
The overall dimensions are 61 1/2 by 4 3/4 inches, and the mounting hole centers measure 45 inches and 24 1/4 inches. Thanks!
I started this thread after looking at pictures of F-1s that must have been '51 or '52, and the lack of ribs was puzzling. I knew you guys would know the answer. Thanks very much!
I don't know much about 48-52, but without measuring it looks like the 53-56. I think it may also be the same as a 57 and up, not sure though about 57 and up.
48-50 didn't have rear bumpers from the factory.....right? Optional on 51/52 with ribs.
That's an interesting thought, Tim. I always believed rear bumpers were optional on all years. So I got out the catalog and while it shows brackets for 48-52, the bumper bar itself is only listed for 51-2. (Except panels, which are listed for all years, since they were standard equipment.) Interesting.
