Starts cold, won't start after I turn it off while it's hot, after cooling --- it starts right up, and runs very well. computer say's ETC sensor,
I can't find it ! 96 Ford powerstroke.
Thank you for your help, I have someone comming over to give me another read out, I will send all I get, so that maby you folks can
tell me what to do.
ETC or ECT?, the latter is Engine Coolant Temp sensor and can be the cause for a no-start condition....for gas engines. Our diesels do not have one.
As already stated: IPR o-rings.
When it starts up OK cold but has trouble or will not start when warm/hot it's almost always the IPR o-rings. The hot, thinner oil leaks past the IPR causing a hard/no start.
Thank you so much, can you tell how to find this o ring thing ?
I must tell you, this is a great truck, I have put tires and 2 batt's
in it in 11 year's. It still run's like new, with over 100,000 on it.
If the Ford dealership knew there was NO ETC sensor in this trk,
why did they not say so ? and why did they sell me this sensor ?
We do have an EOT sensor (engine oil temp). If it has failed, it should set one of it's codes. The ECU should use default values if the sensor fails. Shouldn't cause a not start but may inhibit performance a bit if failed.
There is nothing wrong with performance, run's great.
I will get another computer read-out and get the code's,
so Iam getting the right info to you.
Thanks
I did another computer read - out --- reading has NOTHING on it.
we did it 2 times, just to make sure -- still nothing is commiung up.
still doing the same thing - however Iam going to do the IPR o-ring
thing you told me about. Can you tell me how to find it.
Thank You
