I was at a dealer the other day and saw a f-150 nascar edition, it was red, 2wd, 2 door, short bed. It had a yellow pinstripe on both sides with "nascar edition" logos on it and also on the seats.
Wondered if it is legit and what it is worth.

the Nascar editions were only offered in '98, they were black in stock form, all had the 4.6, factory dual exhaust, special seats, all were XL models and only a handful came with the manual transmission



to the right persont hey are worth some money, but I'd be worried about what the red paint is hiding and if they did the color change properly

Ya I have been wondering the same thing for many years now. My Mom has a 01 supercrew maroon with a gold pin stripe saying " NASCAR sport truck". Thing is nobody new what it was, I was beginning to think the previous owner put it on there but its identical to the one found on the Lariat. Of coarse other than saying "NASCAR sport truck" instead of Lariat.

Any ideas, was there a limited availablity nascar package in 01 also?

Oh ya and the thing rides alot rougher than our other f150's so did it come with heavier springs, or is that something the 1st owner did also?

 

your moms truck is not a nascar edition, it's a wannabe that sounds like it's been modified by the Previous Owner

 

Ford only product the NASCAR Sp. Ed in 1998 and it mainly a appearance package and any other was most likely a dealer add. BUT I think after in 1998 there was a red one done by Sears/Craftsmen tools!!!

 

Ok thats what i was sorta thinkin, I just wasn't sure being that pin stripe is identical in size shape and position to the one found on the lariat.

Huh, interesting. Ya it seems funny the guy would have bought it, got these pinstripes and then sell it with 30,000 miles (thats how many miles it was bought with in dec. of 01), maybe he just decided to upgrade i guess.
